This document represents the third annual evaluation study of the Advanced Institutional Development Program (AIDP) and its impact on colleges involved in the program. An introductory section traces the historical development of the AIDP, its goals and characteristics, and its role in assisting institutions in developing low-income students, improving instructional effectiveness, and enhancing administrative effectiveness. A Planning Team Report provides an in-depth assessment of the achievement of institutional goals over the academic year as perceived by faculty and administrators. The third section presents the findings of an impact evaluation questionnaire designed to gather comparative data on the status of each AIDP institution in the areas of curriculum improvement, student services, continuing education, and planning, management, and evaluation. A fourth section describes on-site visits to a sample of two- and four-year institutions to facilitate the comparison process and enable an in-depth probing of areas that might have been overlooked or discounted by the institutions. A concluding section reflects the consensus among administrators that involvement in AIDP has strengthened academic programs and student support services, and has improved administrative processes.
