The Taming of the Dinosaur: A Key to Library Resources. Unit 3...Reference Material: Library Search Strategy.
Kentucky Univ., Lexington. Univ. Libraries.
Continuing the question/answer format method of instruction used in the two previous units, this third and last part of a guide to the M.I. King Library deals with reference material and library search strategy. Each section focuses on a specific type of reference book, describes its functions and features utilizing many excerpts from representative works, and mentions significant titles. The categories covered include dictionaries, encyclopedias, biographical dictionaries and indexes, almanacs and yearbooks, and special indexes. How to find reference sources in the card catalog is explained, and a list of librarians in the reference department is provided as a personal resource for students. Finally, an overview of library search strategy is presented in a flow chart of decision points with references to salient pages in the three units of the guide. (JD)
