SANS: A System for Determining the Accommodation Needs of Schools. Report No. C 198.
Chambers, D. N.; And Others
As school organizations become more complex, the task of designing schools becomes more difficult. Not the least of the problems is determining the teaching spaces required. This report describes a new method of determining teaching accommodation needs from a statement of the school curriculum. Central to the method is a computer-based system of evaluating a school's curriculum in terms of the accommodation it requires. The system requires three main types of information. The first consists of lists of data describing work stations, group sizes, and subjects. The second is a statement of the curriculum and the third a statement of the administrative and social organization of the school. Some examples of the system are given. (Author/MLF)
