Adapting to Changes in the Characteristics of College-Age Youth. Policy Analysis Service Reports, Vol. 4, No. 2, December 1978.
Henderson, Cathy; Plummer, Janet C.
The number of 18-year-olds and characteristics of the traditional college-age population are examined. This study is a followup and expansion of an earlier study, "Changes in Enrollment by 1985," by Cathy Henderson. The analysis considers changes in characteristics of students, college attendance patterns, the effect of demographic changes on enrollments, employment patterns, and forecasts of the National Center for Education Statistics. The following institutional responses are discussed: using student profiles, developing new student markets and special services, improving recruitment techniques, and planning for optimal use of facilities. Charts, maps, and statistical tables are included. (SW)
