Youth Advisory Services. Report on a Working Group.
The problems of youth have in the past attracted considerable concern. The long-term program of the European office of the World Health Organization includes a whole range of activities in this field. The Working Group was convened to review the activities, organization and staffing of youth advisory services. Their report recommends that these services, although initially focused on special problems, should increase and broaden their objectives in terms of primary prevention, and develop other forms of community, vocational, social, recreational and self-help programs. Financing from government bodies should not be used as a policy-determining factor. Evaluation of youth advisory services should be done by outside experts taking into consideration the experience and opinions of consumers and staff. (BN)
