Staff Development for Institutions Educating and Training Engineers and Technicians. A Study Dealing with the Special Problems of Developing Countries. Studies in Engineering Education, 4.
McNown, John S., Ed.
This Unesco document is the fourth in the series "Studies in Engineering Education." It comprises two main parts and a resume, reflecting the contributions from many participants in two Unesco sponsored conferences; a symposium on staff development in engineering education held at Dar es Salaam in 1974, and the International Conference on the Education and Training of Engineers and Technicians held at New Delhi in 1976. Part I of the document contains three background documents presented at Dar es Salaam, while part II is a collection of eleven case studies prepared by members of university-level teaching staffs from countries in Central and South-East Asia, Latin America and Africa. These papers present a variety of experiences, illustrate varying problems, and offer some solutions. They also point out widespread deficiencies in important aspects of teacher-training and suggest some remedies. (GA)
