Follow-up Report of the Spring 1977 Graduates of Community College of Denver. Research Report No. 20.
Smith, Dixon; And Others
Of the 919 students who received associate degrees (72%), certificates of achievement (14%), or certificates of completion (14%) in June 1977 from one of the three campuses of the Community College of Denver, 698 responded to a follow-up survey six weeks after graduation. The survey report is divided into six sections. Part I looks at the graduating class by campus, type of degree, major, and division. Using factors of employment, wage, and unemployment status; factors in job selection; relevance of school training to job; reasons for selecting major; current school attendance; educational interest; and evaluation of college major, Part II compares graduates by campus, Part III compares occupational studies and general studies graduates, and Part IV compares graduates by curriculum areas. Part V makes cross-comparisons between selected elements and Part VI presents a summary. Employment information reveals that 74% of the occupational studies graduates were employed, compared to 64% of the general studies graduates; of those unemployed, 88% of general studies graduates and 47% of occupational studies graduates were not seeking employment. Employment was highest among graduates in mathematics (100%), industrial occupations (85%), business (70%), and health occupations (69%); over 55% of graduates were employed in jobs related to their college major.
