A Study of Collegiate Off-Campus Centers in Westchester County, 1977-78.

Findings of a study of off-campus centers in Westchester County, New York, are reported. Data cover registered programs or course offerings, admission standards, student enrollments and enrollment fluctuations, percent of full-time students, contact hours per class, number of faculty, faculty vitae and teaching assignments, percent of full-time faculty, description of library resources, and catalogues and promotional literature. Eighteen institutions offer off-campus courses for credit to approximately 5,000 students at 44 locations. Off-campus enrollments break down almost equally between graduate and undergraduate students; 13 of the 18 institutions offer graduate off-campus programs. Specific topics which are addressed include: administrative problems, administrative arrangements for off-campus centers, faculty evaluation, staffing at off-campus centers, faculty relationship with main campus, instructional costs, professional and academic experiences of off-campus faculty, academic fields of study, structure of curriculum and methods of instruction, availability of courses, profile of off-campus students, student services at off-campus centers, student activities and governance, physical resources, library resources, cooperative arrangements, and student attitudes and knowledge of libraries.
