Accounting I (First Offering). Course Evaluation Report.
Brown, Lawrence A.
Accounting I, a multimedia course, was the first course produced by the University of Mid-America, and was offered publicly for the first time by the State University of Nebraska in October 1974. A brief overview of this first offering includes: (1) a description of its development; (2) details of its initial offering, such as registration figures, enrollment options, and course completion data; (3) a profile of those enrolled, including characteristics such as sex, age, marital status, number of children, residence, educational background, and occupation; (4) enrollee achievement; (5) course evaluation data; and (6) general conclusions and recommendations. Enrollee satisfaction is generally high, and most students complete the course requirements if given enough time. Nontraditional learners, it was found, attain satisfactory levels of achievement, and respond well to course media components that concentrate on content and minimize entertainment elements. However, nearly a third of all those completing the course found lack of faculty contact a significant problem. (Author/MSE)
