This third report of adult education statistics is part of a triennial series begun in 1969 and continued in 1972. (New inclusions in the 1975 report are demographic characteristics of full-time high school or college students participating in adult education and non-student participants' opinions regarding course helpfulness.) After a brief introduction in section 1, there is an overview in section 2 of adult education participation: summary and trends, 1969-1975. Categories which are reviewed are demographic characteristics (participation rate and participant's age, sex, education, and income) and course characteristics (number of courses, description, reason for taking, payment source, courses dropped, credit earned/expected, and evaluation). Section 3 explains the organizational format of the summary tables 1-8 (1969-1975) and presents the basic tables, 9-33 (1975), which make up the bulk of the document. The summary tables provide population and course characteristics for adult education participants and nonparticipants. The basic tables present data on the demographic characteristics of participants and nonparticipants in adult education and participant and course counts by participant and course characteristics. Three appendixes related to the 1975 survey are included: (1) a course subjects list, (2) review of survey methods, and (3) computer tape availability.
