This publication is developed for grades K-6 as a curriculum guide for the Science/Social Studies Program. The introduction gives purpose and structure of program, format of each unit, sequence of each lesson and key to abbreviated organization or project titles. A map, which orders the units according to grade level and defines the skills, is presented. The major features of the program are: (1) General format for a lesson; (2) Skills and student behaviors; (3) Content; and (4) Evaluation. The content areas are: (1) Physical subsystems; (2) Biological subsystems; and (3) Human subsystems. The units are presented with the same format: (1) Table of Contents; (2) Overview; (3) Materials List; (4) Resources List; (5) Planning; and (6) Lessons. The elements of each lesson are: (1) Objectives or problems; (2) Skills and behaviors; (3) Materials; (4) Content; and (5) Evaluation. Five exemplary units are included: (1) Clay Boats Extended; (2) A Study of Friction; (3) Solutions and Crystals; (4) Weather; and (5) Swing, Sways and Pendulum. (HM)
