The contents have been selected to help students and others find out what happened during the Holocaust, understand some of the reasons for it, develop a better understanding of the Jewish people, and reflect on their own lives. All entries are listed alphabetically by author (or title) in 20 categories: Third Reich, Hitler, European Jewry, anti-Semitism, Holocaust overview, Holocaust experience, refugees, ghettos, camps, world reaction, war crimes, resistance and rescue, survivors, anthologies and literature, religious and political ideology after the Holocaust, analogies, Jews and Judaism, prejudice, nature of man, and controlled society. Film entries give information on title, length, color or black/white, purchase and rental prices, distributor, and an annotation. Book entries give information on author, title, publisher, date, pages, annotation, and reading level. Reading levels are indicated for four groups: below average (grades six through eight), average (grades nine through ten), above average (grades 11 through 12 and older), and teacher. (Author/AV)
