As part of an annual graduate follow-up study, questionnaires were sent to all students who graduated from Montgomery College (MC) during the 1976-77 academic year in an associate degree or certificate program; 691 (62%) responded. Major reasons for attending MC were low cost, program offerings and convenient location, the same reasons reported in previous years. The percentage of graduates still in school decreased from 62% in 1975, to 57% in 1976 and 53% in 1977. The percentage of those unemployed decreased from 17% to 14% and 13% for the same years. Graduates were very satisfied with the academic and job preparation they received; 90% reported they would recommend their program and the college to their friends. Those who sought assistance from counselors usually received it; 60% of those who did so frequently received "very much assistance" and 25% received "some." A substantial minority (18%) were dissatisfied with the quality of academic advising they received. Career programs had the highest percentage of employed graduates (80%). Over 60% of full-time employed graduates either held the same job while attending school or contacted the employer on their own; the majority (57%) worked in positions directly related to their programs of study. The University of Maryland received 44% of transfer students, 93% of whom transferred more than 50 credit hours. (AYC)
