Career Education Activity Manual: 4th, 5th, and 6th.
Atwood, Janet
This career education activity manual for elementary teachers of fourth, fifth, and sixth grade students is intended to be used either as a supplement to a career education program or as an independent program in itself. Activities are designed to help students become aware of self, develop an understanding of sexism, and recognize their unique abilities, interests, and individuality. The manual includes seven units (each consisting of ten activities): (1) general information activities, (2) career education art activities, (3) resource people contact lessons, (4) research activities, (5) value activities for awareness of self, (6) sexism awareness activities, and (7) role playing activities. Each lesson in units one and two includes one or all of the following: purpose, questions for students, procedure, and debriefing (ways to determine outcomes). The lessons in the third unit include presentation by a resource person, a note to the teacher (instructions for contacting the resource person), a description of materials needed, and a presentation outline. In the last four units each of the activities includes a step-by-step guide for teachers to follow in helping students accomplish the learning task. (EM)
