This report presents an analysis of information about the teaching styles used by parents of children enrolled in the Queensland Preschool Correspondence Program in Australia. Structured interviews conducted with a sample of 47 mothers in their own homes provided the basis for analysis and categorization of teaching styles. Interviews cover such topics as demographic information; parents' views of their own roles as teachers and their expectations for their children; how parents presented the program to their children; parental attitudes and practices related to child rearing, and the types of resources and teaching materials parents found helpful. Specific tables and data illustrating outcomes of the interviews are included. In all families the mother was found to be completely responsible for her child's preschool correspondence program. Appendices include a copy of the questionnaire used in the parent interview, and 13 supplementary tables. (CM)
