State-of-Art Survey on Technology and Use of Roll Microfilm, Microfiche and Other Microforms.
Muller, H.; Thiele, G.
Benefits which working with microfilm-forms (roll film, microfiche, or aperture card) offer for archives, libraries, and documentation centers are presented, as well as means (processes, instruments, materials) which can be employed in the field of microfilm technology for UNESCO's international information exchange in education, medicine, the natural sciences, and in connection with other cultural organizations. The importance of standardization and compatible equipment and products in the functioning of a universal information exchange is emphasized. Separate sections provide descriptions with diagrams and flowcharts of microform processes, equipment, materials, and technology, and a brief discussion of standards. Appendices include lists of manufacturers of microform equipment, recommendations and standards from several sources, and a key to abbreviations for reprographic institutions and societies.
