Wisconsin System for Instructional Management: Terminal Operator Manual. Practical Paper No. 19.
Bozeman, William C.; And Others
The Wisconsin System for Instructional Management (WIS-SIM) is a computer managed instruction (CMI) system designed to improve instructional decision making in order to maximize the educational progress of each child while making efficient use of the available human, material, and financial resources within an organizational structure such as the Individually Guided Education (IGE) school. WIS-SIM provides information for assessing instructional outcomes and updating student records, identifying instructional needs, and grouping students for instruction. The interactive nature of WIS-SIM allows for all reports to be submitted via the school computer terminal. This manual specifically addresses the needs of the computer terminal operator as opposed to those of systems personnel, teachers, or unit leaders; however, it is recommended that everyone involved in a computer managed instruction environment have some familiarity with its contents. This is not a technical manual; readers desiring additional system operating specifications are referred to the "System Design Manual for the Unified WIS-SIM" (1977), and appropriate Madison Academic Computing Center (MACC) user manuals.
