Written as a guide to be used in the admission and placement of students from Israel in U.S. institutions of higher education, this study discusses the educational system of Israel. Following a summary of the organization of education in Israel, information is provided on kindergarten and primary education, secondary education, the Bagrut examinations, the Organization for Rehabilitation through Training (ORT), training for technical professions, teacher training, the universities, and education in the occupied territories. Study opportunities for U.S. students in Israel are described and recommendations for placement of Israeli students in U.S. institutions are made. Israeli tertiary-level educational institutions are alphabetically listed in the appendix. (SPG)
