Questionnaires were distributed to members of the Academy of Management, an organization of professors and scholars in management, business policy, and personnel management; 81 were returned. Females appear to perceive and experience a less favorable professional environment than males. The two groups are about the same age, yet females have significantly lower salaries. There seems to be no backlash and little perceived discrimination by males. (Authors/MSE)
