Guide to Undergraduate External Degree Programs in the United States--Spring 1977.
Sosdian, Carol P., Comp.; Sharp, Laure M., Comp.
This guide is an attempt to inventory undergraduate level, degree-granting external degree programs (EPDs), defined as those emphasizing minimal classroom coursework and minimal residence requirements. There are 134 accredited or approved organizations listed that sponsor among them 244 external degree programs (66 associate and 178 bachelor). Institutions offering EDPs are listed by state. For each institution, a mailing address (current as of fall 1976) is given, followed by 11 items describing the Program: (1) the name of the EDP program and the areas of study available; (2) authorization; (3) previous education required; (4) maximum credit for prior learning; (5) maximum credit for prior experiential learning; (6) minimum on-campus time required; (7) grading system; (8) job placement assistance offered to graduates; (9) enrollment in the EDP as of September, 1976; (10) cumulative number of graduates from the EDP up to September, 1976; and (11) the year in which the program began.
