Diversification of Tertiary Education in Sweden.
Sandgren, Lennart
Following a brief description of primary and secondary education in Sweden, the aims and contents of the reform of higher education implemented in July 1977 are summarized. Basic higher studies (undergraduate courses), organized partly as education programs and partly as single course, are described, including admission requirements and the orientation of courses. Types of institutions and system characteristics are outlined. Admission procedures, vocational guidance, financial aid, the efficiency of tertiary education, enrollment trends, research in tertiary education, and costs of tertiary education are also discussed. The relationship between tertiary education and the labor market is examined, and future reforms being considered are outlined. (SPG)
