This bibliography on halfway houses contains seventy-two entries (includes books, journals, films, technical reports, and government publications) which address the critical issues in halfway house operations, evaluations, and innovations. Each entry includes an annotation preceded by the appropriate bibliographic information, such as author, title, journal, publisher, publication date, pages (or length), color, and source. Listed alphabetically by author or title, the entries are grouped into three sections as follows: (1) "Development, Standards, and Program Descriptions," which contains thirty-five entries covering the concept underlying halfway houses and their development in specific communities, and includes guidelines and standards for halfway houses and descriptions of specific programs; (2) "Evaluation," comprised of thirty-four entries, focuses on halfway house evaluations (both fiscal and program) utilizing varied measures of evaluation, including cost-benefit analyses, recidivism rates, and the effect of halfway houses on crime; and (3) "Directories," which furnishes information on three published listings of halfway facilities. Information on ways to obtain listed documents precedes the bibliography, and sources and resource agencies are listed in the appendix. (EM)
