The report describes activities of the American Academy of Pediatrics under a 1-year grant to evaluate the effectiveness of a child abuse curriculum for physicians and other health professionals. It is explained that the evaluation was conducted through a series of eight workshops based on the curriculum materials. Project results are reported in the following sections: comments on separate curriculum modules, comments on supplementary materials, profile of participants, examination of gains in participant knowledge and attitude scores from pre- to post-test, changes in participant behavior related to workshop attendance, and evaluation of the workshop program as a whole. Inclusion of prevention and treatment modules is recommended. Among 15 appendixes are a roster of legal resource persons and a sample workshop participant questionnaire. (CL)
