A Child in Our Midst: A Study Course on Keeping Children Safe From Abuse.
Salvation Army. New York, NY.
This Leader's Guide prepared for the Salvation Army's Home League aims at helping community groups (particularly those which are church related) recognize the symptoms of child abuse and determine their course of action in preventing such abuse. Six forms of child abuse are cited: physical abuse, physical neglect, emotional abuse, emotional deprivation, verbal assault, and sexual abuse. Lesson outlines include information on how children grow and develop, guidelines for disciplining children, and suggestions for combating pornography. Selected backup materials such as posters, films, and other aids are described or included, and specific community resources and organizations which provide help are listed. (CM)
