Report of the President to the Board of Trustees: Martin College, May 14, 1977.
Starnes, William M.
The annual report for 1976-77 to the Board of Trustees of Martin College, a church-affiliated junior college, contains individual reports of the college president, vice-presidents, academic dean, dean of admissions and records, financial aid office, admissions office, dean of student affairs, library director, business manager, chaplain, athletic director, and alumni office. During 1976-77, Martin College employed 23.8 full-time equivalent instructional personnel, including a full-time librarian and five administrators who served as part-time instructors, most of whom taught 15 credit hours per semester. The college offered approximately 60 university-parallel programs of study to 280 enrolled students (a decrease of 16.9% from the previous year), 260 of whom were full-time, 5 part-time, and 15 special students. In addition, the college offered some one- and two-year terminal programs to prepare students for particular vocations. Two major curriculum changes were initiated during 1976-77: the college returned to a traditional semester calendar and to the traditional A-F grading system as opposed to the non-punitive system previously used. Information on student characteristics, finance, admissions, student government and services, library and library use, religious and special studies, and athletic programs is also provided. (TR)
