A Model Research Program to Provide Equity for Women Entering Engineering.
Heckert, Bonnie L.; And Others
Under a grant funded under the Women's Educational Equity Act, the Department of Freshman Engineering at Purdue has developed a model program for freshmen women entering engineering. The program focuses on an experimental course that provides beginning engineering women and men with: (1) hands-on laboratory experiences; (2) discussions by various model lecturers of contemporary problems, including environment, energy, and productivity; and (3) career planning sessions, including the use of interest inventories. Pre-testing and post-testing with standardized instruments and special surveys were used for evaluation of experimental and control groups with generally positive results. (Author)
