Organizing Prescriptive Parent Programs. Parenting: Parent-Teacher-Child Involvement.

Discussed are findings of a task force on parent-teacher-child involvement in the education of handicapped children, and described is a prescriptive approach to parent programs that focuses on assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation. It is explained that a 4-day workshop centered on 10 modules, including parent-child dynamics, cooperative teaching between home and school, and systematic training for effective parenting. Additional sections of the paper review implications for parents of P. L. 94-142, the Education For All Handicapped Children Act; parenting materials in five major content areas including child development, education, and individual differences; resources on parent-teacher-child involvement; and parent-child involvement in the development of individualized education programs.
