Parent Advisory Council Information Handbook for Title I in Georgia.
This handbook is provided to serve as a guide for parents and school personnel in establishing and in determining the functions of Title One, ESEA, parent advisory councils. From the very beginning of Title One, the involvement of parents and community representatives in the school program has been recognized as an important element in the ability of schools to influence student motivation and success. The concept of parent involvement in education generally, and in Title One in particular, is strongly advocated by both federal and state officials. This handbook is a useful tool for those who are involved in the planning and implementing of Title One programs throughout a state. It gives clear, simple information about the purpose of Title One and its functions at the school and district levels. It discusses the roles of the Federal Program Director, school principal, and Title One teacher. And it specifies how to go about setting up, carrying out, and evaluating the parent advisory council.
