Information Explosion. Career Guidance.
Mesa Public Schools, AZ.
This instructional unit for the eighth grade is designed to help students identify and use a minimum of three important sources of vocational and educational material and to evaluate the information given in the sources used according to reliability, relevance, and bias. The sources of information investigated include high school, community college, vocational and technical school catalogs, and occupational guidance materials. While working through the unit, the student reads the packet, "The Information Explosion," and completes the exercises or tests required in the student guide. Most of the activities in the unit are designed to be self-instructional. Additional student activities include a pre- and post-test, vocabulary lists, a "What's My Line?" game, and a "Match-a-Square" game. Complete teacher and student materials are included. (BB)
