Case Studies in the Evaluation of Educational Programmes.
Stake, Robert E., Ed.; And Others
Ten brief case studies illustrate the types of arrangements which have been made between commissions and evaluators, and describe some of the subsequent problems. Each of the cases is a major evaluative study of a large-scale educational development or school operation. For the collection as a whole, the purpose was to illustrate how the evaluation got started and how it resolved problems. The case studies are: (1) The UNCAL evaluation of computer assisted learning, (2) the evaluation of the Illinois program for gifted children, (3) the Coleman Report on equality of educational opportunity, (4) the Michigan educational assessment program, (5) the case study of information retrieval television used to access instructional video tapes and films, (6) the use of evaluation as a basis for school reform in Sweden, (7) the assessment of the programs of educational laboratories and research and development centers in the United States, (8) the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study (BSCS) population genetics curriculum field trial, (9) the Project Follow Through evaluation, and the German adaptation of the American Social Science Laboratory Units.
