Teaching Secondary Health Science.
Sorochan, Walter D.; Bender, Stephen J.
This book is designed to be of use to the secondary health educator. It is divided into five parts. Part one is devoted to a discussion of the philosophic-holistic meaning of health. Particular emphasis is placed on the relationship between health and life style. In part two the physiological, emotional, social, intellectual, and moral development of the adolescent are discussed. In addition, the importance of identity crises and values development is emphasized. Part three contains a discussion of school health programs and how teachers can best contribute to the goals of such programs. Part four deals with the process of health education and the conceptual approach to curriculum planning. In the last section, a series of exemplary concept lesson plans are presented, each dealing with a different content area. (Authors/JD)
