A Computerized System to Monitor the Delivery of Direct and Indirect Services in Regional Cooperative Programs.
Corvine, Walter S.; And Others
The Special Services Unit Tracking System is a computerized system used to monitor the special education programs for children with orthopedic, visual, and hearing impairments. In operation for over two years, it uses a modified data base containing data about the 800 children in individual programs, the staff providing the service, and the specific services provided. The system cumulates the record of the service provided by a regional unit staff and a breakdown by recipients of services. It allows the staff to graphically record how their time was expended with system components that can be individualized according to specific activity within the total system. Finally, it provides a method of reporting to the cooperating units the quantity and types of services being provided. Advantages to the system are: (1) flexibility, (2) minimal staff training time, (3) effective data management and use, (4) minimal clerical tasks, and (5) economic savings in the preparation of evaluations and reports.
