Personal Characteristics. Career Guidance.
Mesa Public Schools, AZ.; American Institutes for Research in the Behavioral Sciences, Palo Alto, CA.
Materials contained in this career guidance unit are designed to direct the attention of the senior high school student to five types of personal characteristics to facilitate a more realistic career exploration: abilities, interests, values, physical traits, and personal and social behavior. The two- to three-hour unit contains self-instruction, interviewing, and group activities to develop understanding of individual differences and what effect these differences will have on qualification and suitability for various types of jobs. The instructional sequence is outlined in terms of goal statements, performance objectives, instructor's information (including estimated lesson time, suggested grouping, content outline, new vocabulary, student prerequisites, instructor's preparation tasks, resources), and a detailed outline for developing the lesson. A student guide containing activities for use with the unit and a supplemental booklet describing the five personal characteristics are provided. (TA)
