This four-part guide describes the Ohio Career Development Program. (The Career Development Program is that portion of the total Ohio Career Continuum designated K-10 and includes Career Motivation [K-6], Career Orientation [7-8] and Career Exploration [9-10]. These programs prepare the student to make choices for vocational or pre-professional preparation in grades 11 and 12.) Section I provides a diagram and summary of the entire Continuum, then offers precise descriptions of the three K-10 areas. It is noted that the program is integrated throughout the curriculum and is not a single subject. Seven developmental areas within the program are identified: self, individual and environment, world of work, economics, education and training, employability and work adjustment, and career decision making. These areas, as well as levels of learning experiences (experiential, simulated, vicarious) and related levels of activities, are defined. Career Program Objectives are also defined and taxonomies of behavior and activities provided, followed by an abbreviated list of job clusters from the D.O.T. (Dictionary of Occupational Titles). Section II, constituting approximately half of the guide, offers sample lessons over a variety of subjects and areas for grades K-6. Each plan includes the developmental objective(s), behavioral objectives, and procedures. Section III provides a list of instruction materials and Section IV provides copies of program forms (e.g., Field Observation Request, Request for Classroom Speakers, etc.). (DTT)
