This document consists of papers and group reports on multicultural education in Canada. Recurrent themes in the conference papers presented include: the concept of personal dignity as related to all aspects of multicultural education; the importance of language in maintaining cultural and ethnic identity; the problem of information overload in relation to teacher preparation for teaching multicultural curricula; the global perspective of multiculturalism; and the nature and importance of learning materials where multiculturalism is concerned. Detailed reports of group meetings among conference participants are also presented in this document. Discussions focused on the following topics: learning and teaching styles; multicultural education in every classroom; the role of the school in teaching language and culture; teacher education and multiculturalism; and multicultural education policies in Canada. A report in French on curriculum and cultural identity and a section of background material are also included. (GC)
