Information Specifications for Development of Instruments to be Used in the Evaluation of Nontraditional Programs.
Watkins, Richard W.; Ruyle, Janet
Specifications for the types of information necessary for the evaluation of nontraditional college programs involve: content, respondent groups, schedule for data collection, possible instruments and forms of response, and presentation of the information to different groups. One important issue is the need for more precise definitions of traditional and nontraditional degree programs. Three general categories of nontraditonal programs have been identified in order to suggest some of the problems encountered in the development of information collection procedures. These programs include: (1) on-campus curricula and degrees extended by flexible scheduling and location, (2) periodic short-term residence alternating with longer periods of self-disciplined study, and (3) individually developed degree programs defined by contract agreements between the student and the program faculty. This report is limited to the specifications for information about associate and baccalaureate degree programs. (Author/MV)
