Violence in Schools: Perspectives, Programs, and Positions.
McPartland, James M., Ed.; McDill, Edward L., Ed.
The materials in this volume illustrate the complexity of the problem of crime in the public schools and the political, economic, and social difficulties that surround the operation of public schools in this country. These materials also demonstrate the number and variety of school reforms that have been proposed or recently introduced to address problems of school violence. The book includes contributions from social science researchers, descriptions of some school districts' programs to combat student violence and crime, and position statements from professional educational organizations (such as the NEA and AASA), as well as from federal educational agencies. These materials were collected at a 1975 national conference on violence in the schools. (Author/DS)
