Urban Sociology Bibliography, Exchange Bibliography 1336.
Wood, James L.; And Others
This bibliography on urban sociology cites studies which discuss the structures and processes of urban society from an historical and comparative perspective. Although it includes studies that discuss population growth, decline, size, and density, the prime concern of this bibliography is not with urban demography. After a brief look at some discussions of urban research methodologies, the various consequences of the development of modern urban industrial society are treated. The consequences explored relate to the family, the social community, ethnic groups, poverty, and the individual. Analyses of urban politics and of strategies for urban change are also cited. This bibliography thus focuses on the development of modern urban industrial society, the consequences of this type of society, and the political solutions to various problems that have emerged from urban society.
