Instruments for Measuring Cognitive Abilities at the Intermediate Grade Level. Tests and Manual.
Harris, Margaret L.; Harris, Chester W.
Thirty-five tests which measure cognitive abilities at the intermediate grade level and the related manual are intended to accompany the authors' 1973 monograph, "A Structure of Concept Attainment Abilities." Additional tests which measure these abilities (verbal, induction, memory, spatial, numerical, perceptual speed, evaluation, word fluency, simple visualization, and seeing relationships) are also specified. Each of the cognitive ability factors and the development of the tests are described. A battery of these 35 tests, and the additional tests not included here, were administered to 790 boys and girls who had recently completed the fifth grade in the Madison, Wisconsin public schools. Scoring keys for the 35 tests, as well as information on test validity, reliability estimates, normative data, and item indices are also presented. (Author/GDC)
