The New Spirit in Instruction: Cohesion, Communication and Causation.
Heitmann, Helen M.
The author examines physical education as a discipline and discusses what it is that physical educators can offer their students to make the instruction relevant to their educational careers and their lives. The intensive (but isolated) treatment of particular sports offered in popular sport-book literature is contrasted with the possibilities of integrating psychological, affective, and cognitive aspects of physical activity in a program integrated into other curricular activities. It is urged that physical educators interweave into their instruction spiritual, moral, social, and historical aspects of enrichment along with physical well-being and skill, so that students bring their total being to the encounter and emerge affected in all respects.
