Arkansas Child Abuse and Neglect. Final Report.
Nayles, Dorothy
Provided is the final report of the Arkansas Child Abuse and Neglect Demonstration Project, a service delivery model based on the use of volunteer personnel to provide services directly to families with child abuse problems. It is noted that the project was carried out by SCAN (Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect), a non-profit voluntary agency. Listed are original goals of the project, and explained in detail are revised second-year goals including the following: to identify, develop and coordinate county-wide resources for more effective SCAN operation; to implement public and private agency groups providing services; and to educate the community regarding dynamics of abuse and the necessity of reporting as provided by state law. Brief sections cover the three model program components of education, diagnosis, and treatment; and a chronological description of the program. The bulk of the document consists of appended materials such as descriptions of procedures used, background and history of the program, and a copy of the Arkansas Child Abuse Act (Act 397 of 1975).
