Curriculum Guide for Human Relations, Grades K-12.
Virginia State Dept. of Education, Richmond. Office for School Integration Services.
This guide was written primarily for teachers to use with their classes from grades kindergarten through twelve. The stated objectives are to help students understand people of various cultures, backgrounds and value systems. The first section of the guide is designed for the purpose of providing specific directions for teachers in establishing human relations and implementing programs for all grade levels. In the second section, an outline is presented for the formation of human relations clubs to promote understanding and tolerance among students. Specific objectives are chosen for the students, followed by suggested activities and materials that the teacher may employ in order to reach these objectives. The final section is devoted to instructional guides for students of varying ages containing questionnaires and simulated situations each emphasising a desirable social attitude. (JD)
