An Introduction to Individualized Education Program Plans in Pennsylvania: Guidelines for School Age IEP Development.

Provided are guidelines for the development of individualized education programs (IEPs) for handicapped, gifted, and talented children, designed to comply with the proposed Pennsylvania Special Education Standards. Chapters cover the following topics: instructional components of the IEP (including determination of present educational levels, annual goals, and short-term objectives), special considerations in IEP plan preparation, procedures for determining educational assignments and developing IEP plans, and copies of formats and forms (such as a letter requesting parent permission to evaluate and a due process notice). The bulk of the document consists of six appended sample IEP plans for placement of handicapped and gifted students in regular and self-contained classes. Also appended are bibliographies of curriculum bound objectives, instructional objectives collections, and resource books on objectives; and guidelines for writing behavioral objectives. (IM)
