CARE Kit: Combining Activities with Real Experiences.

Materials presented in this kit form a package containing eighty-six vocational development oriented activities designed primarily for individuals and small groups of underachieving junior high or high school students and is intended to supplement regular classroom activities. Included in the kit are the following: (1) a teacher's guide containing instructions for the use of the CARE (Combining Activities with Real Experiences) Kit, record pages to record student completion of activities, information pages, a copy of the handouts which students will use, and the answer key for correcting handouts; (2) fifteen packets of materials for students which are divided into three major sections: Job Getting Skills (following directions, job sources, personal data sheet, job application, job interview, forms), Understanding Ourselves and Others (values, feelings, improving conditions, budgeting, getting along), and Career Choices (world of work, career clusters, career information, future jobs); and (3) eighty-six single-page handout masters (e.g., learning to accept helpful criticism, filling out an application at the state employment service, understanding your paycheck, using the Department of Labor pamphlet) which can be duplicated and filed for student use.
