The Process of Development. Phi Delta Kappa Occasional Paper 15.
Nadler, Gerald; Gaphart, William J.
This booklet contains the edited transcript of an interview with Gerald Nadler that was conducted by William J. Gephart in October 1972 for Phi Delta Kappa's National Symposium for Professors of Educational Research. The interview focuses mainly on five questions about the development process: (1) What is the general nature of the process of development? (2) What are the characteristics of the problems for which the development process is the most appropriate resolution strategy? (3) What are the activities that make up the process? (4) What are the general characteristics of the products of the development process? and (5) What are the criteria one should use to assess the quality of a given development effort? Six illustrative diagrams taken from Nadler's book "Work Design: A Systems Concept" are also included. (Author/JG)
