This booklet is about what people say and do with regard to citizen participation. Explanations and key resources are provided for eleven techniques to obtain citizen participation: Alinsky Organizations, charrettes, citizen advisory committees, community audio and video access, community development corporations, community resource/information centers, community schools, neighborhood associations and councils, parent involvement councils, self-help groups, and user consultation process. Additionally, brief descriptions are provided for fourteen other methods. The booklet concludes with thirty statements or short paragraphs from researchers, theorists, and practitioners about community involvement and participation and a list of ten critical questions on citizen participation.
