Exploring the Feasibility of Providing Long-Range A.I.D. Input Toward the Development of Educational Examining Devices of the East African Examinations Council.
Cieutat, V. J.; And Others
Plans for the development of The East African Examinations Council (EAEC) are outlined and the feasibility of long-range technical assistance from the U.S. Agency for International Development (AID) is discussed. The EAEC was established in 1967 by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania. Its purpose is to conduct within East Africa the academic, technical, and other examinations necessary in the public interest. Achievement tests traditionally conducted by various British institutions eventually are to be managed entirely by the EAEC. Areas in which technical assistance may be appropriate are: objective testing, statistical analysis of test results, research related to testing, and continuing professional education of EAEC personnel. Implementation of the plan for AID technical assistance is proposed, for the period 1970 to 1979. Financial support necessary for several different implementation strategies is estimated. (GDC)
