A survey was conducted by the College Entrance Examination Board for the Oregon Educational Coordinating Council. All but two of the public and private two- and four-year higher education institutions participated, as did ten private vocational and technical schools. The results provide a profile of student characteristics, including age, marital status, sex, ethnic heritage, parental income, student personal income, self-supporting status, educational aspiration, financial aid applicant status, and college costs. Analyzed in more detail are the students' resources for their education; parental contribution, the distribution of student aid, special problems in student loans, aid applicant profiles, educational indebtedness, special student groups, and the private vocational schools. The purpose of the study was to develop a data base for decision- and policy-making at the state and institutional levels. (MSE)
