An Evaluation of the Special Services Program for Disadvantaged Students in Post-Secondary Institutions.
Sandusky, Nancy; Johnson, Susan
The Special Services Program for Disadvantaged Students is designed to assist certain postsecondary students who require special help to complete their education successfully. Through Federal grants to institutions, special service projects have been established to offer supportive services to low-income, physically handicapped, and limited-English-speaking students. Evaluations were conducted of nine of the Office of Education's region 7 projects. The study, carried out from September 1976 to January 1977, provides descriptive information on ten projects' characteristics, activities, client groups, and performance. In the final report innovative and exemplary features are highlighted and the projects' outcomes are presented, as are the major conclusions of the study. (MSE)
