Mainstreaming: The Educational Resource Centers Model.
Warrick, Diane; Isaacson, Steve
This program guide is designed for elementary students that need special services to learn most efficiently. The program, conducted at three sites within the district and later validated at two other sites in Oregon, measures current behavior and develops an instructional sequence to meet prescribed objectives. The mainstreaming approach of the program is to facilitate participation in regular classes of students typically described as emotionally handicapped, educable mentally retarded, learning disabled, or physically handicapped. A procedural and sequential plan, based on behavioral objectives, is established for teaching each child a needed skill. Daily monitoring of academic and behavioral progress is recorded. Step-by-step instruction in planning, budgeting, selection of staff and students, operation, forms, and lists of equipment, is offered to assist school districts in establishing a similar program.
